The Olde English Bulldogge Kennel Club

The Olde English Bulldogge Kennel Club (OEBKC) is the national breed club for the Olde English Bulldogge. The mission of the OEBKC is first and foremost to assist its breeder organization in continually improving the breed through disciplined breeding programs that emphasize health, temperament, athleticism, and consistent conformation within the Olde English Bulldogge breed standard.

The OEBKC was established in 2001 by several breeders and fanciers of the Olde English Bulldogge. It was established in an effort to meet the growing needs of the breed, the owners, and the breeders of the Olde English Bulldogge. The American Rare Breed Association (ARBA.org) quickly adopted the OEBKC as the National Breed Club of the Olde English Bulldogge, and continues to recognize it as such today. In 2005, David Leavitt merged the OEBA (Olde English Bulldogge Association) Registry with that of the OEBKC, and declared the OEBKC to be the official registry of the true Olde English Bulldogge. The OEBKC currently maintains a registry database of over 625 dogs that are traceable back to the original Leavitt foundation stock.

Although we are a small club, the enthusiasm and interest that the breed and club is attracting is very exciting. The Club and Breed were recently accepted by the Canine Developmental Health & Performance Registry (CDHPR.com). This is just the first step in getting the breed full recognition by the United Kennel Club (UKC.com). The CDHPR was developed by the UKC as an independent registry to help the UKC organize the registries of rare/new breeds before they can be eligible for full recognition into the UKC registry. The club is attracting more and more Olde English Bulldogge fanciers that are not only interested in conformation shows, but also in Obedience, Agility, Weight Pull, and therapy work.

The enthusiasm and involvement in the Olde English Bulldogge is stronger than ever before and growing rapidly. This interest is not contained solely in the U.S. There are many Olde English Bulldogges as well as breeders in Canada and Germany as well.
